As the automotive industry continues to evolve, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has cemented its position as the premier event for unveiling the latest technological advancements. With each passing year, CES becomes an even more integral platform for showcasing groundbreaking innovations.
In anticipation of CES 2024, automotive enthusiasts and professionals are eagerly awaiting the unveiling of cutting-edge technologies that will shape the future of the industry. From autonomous vehicles to electric cars, CES has consistently been at the forefront of revolutionising the automotive landscape. This event serves as a hub for industry experts to analyse upcoming trends and collaborate on the development of groundbreaking solutions.
In this blog, we will look into what will make CES 2024 a key event for the automotive sector.
CES, shaping the future of automotive innovation
For the past few years, CES has emerged as a highly influential event in the automotive industry. What sets it apart from other conventional automotive shows is that it encompasses various other industries as well. Indeed, CES brings together a diverse range of technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotics, augmented reality and virtual reality – technologies that are being integrated into the automotive industry, from vehicles to factories.
CES is also a special environment allowing OEMs to showcase how they include cutting-edge innovations to enhance their offerings. Plus, with the huge media coverage at CES, it makes it a perfect event for unveiling concept cars and prototypes, and making vehicle announcements. The CES audience also tends to be different and broader than that of automotive-specific events, helping OEMs and suppliers reach new customers.
Taking place in the vibrant city of Las Vegas, CES serves as a strategic platform where professionals from diverse fields converge to shape the future of the automotive industry.
A glimpse into Canonical’s CES 2024 booth
This will be Canonical’s second year with a booth at CES. After the great response we had last year, we’re eagerly looking forward to showcasing our automotive and Internet of Things (IoT) offerings at CES 2024.
At the Canonical booth, you can look forward to meeting our team of knowledgeable software experts who are well-versed in the latest cutting-edge technologies that are revolutionising the automotive industry. From digital twins to software-defined vehicles, our team can provide valuable insights and discuss solutions for the future of automotive.
In addition, we will be showcasing our most recent demos, which will give you a first-hand experience of the power of Ubuntu and a Dedicated Snap Store. These innovative tools enable seamless over-the-air (OTA) updates of your vehicle’s electronic control units (ECUs), making it possible to remotely and wirelessly update virtually every software component in a vehicle. Don’t miss the opportunity to get a guided tour through the technology that is helping to shape the evolution of vehicle maintenance and security.
What we expect at CES, anticipating key trends
CES has consistently showcased a strong focus on software, particularly the utilization of cloud-native technologies, to enhance the development and deployment of software.
This year, we expect to see significant advancements in digital twins and environmental parity, as the automotive industry seeks to enhance simulations and optimise development processes.
As autonomous driving technology continues to evolve, we anticipate numerous companies showcasing their progress in sensor technologies, machine learning algorithms, and even presenting autonomous shuttles.
Personally, I would not be surprised to see partnership announcements between technology companies and automotive OEMs. Collaboration between technology innovators and OEMs remains crucial for driving the industry forward.
Furthermore, we can anticipate a substantial number of electric vehicles (EV) announcements, potentially from unexpected players or newcomers, as well as the introduction of innovative system-on-chip (SoC) platforms for hardware architectures.
Accelerating towards 2024
As we approach CES 2024, it is evident that this year’s event will have a significant impact on the automotive industry. The trade show will bring together a whole host of exciting new technologies and opportunities, both in the automotive sector and beyond, and we’ll undoubtedly get to see an array of new innovations being unveiled for the very first time.
For those attending CES 2024, we invite you to visit our booth at #9763 in the North Hall. Our team of experts will be thrilled to chat with you.
The year ahead holds great promise, and we look forward to being a part of it. Don’t miss out on this chance to explore the latest advancements in automotive technology!
