Hello Ubuntu Server!

The purpose of this communication is to provide a status update and highlights for any interesting subjects from the Ubuntu Server Team. If you would like to reach the server team, you can find us at the #ubuntu-server channel on Freenode. Alternatively, you can sign up and use the Ubuntu Server Team mailing list.

Spotlight: Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) Released!

As announced, Artful was released last Thursday. Check out the release notes for more information on changes, download the latest server ISO, or try out our new server installer which uses subiquity.

Work has already begun on the next LTS release: Bionic Beaver!

git-ubuntu

  • Released version 0.4 to edge channel
  • This release reduces the size of the snap and fixes a number of bugs
  • For instructions on how to install see the release announcement linked above

cloud-init

  • Fix systemd mount target due to busy device or already mounted (LP: #1718287)
  • Fix simpleteable object as output string (LP: #1722566)
  • Fix netplan bridge stp boolean (LP: #1721157)
  • Fix cc_ntp to allow empty configuration "ntp:". Fix ntp integration test to provide valid empty ntp config (LP: 1724951)
  • Fixed cc_lxd to allow for missing bridge definitions in lxd cloud-config
  • Numerous test and CI stability improvements

curtin

  • Fix TOCTOU bug with bcache clear_holders (LP: #1700564)
  • Numerous test and CI stability improvements
