Anibal Sacco discovered that CUPS did not properly handle certain network
operations. A remote attacker could exploit this flaw and cause the CUPS
server to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Update instructions

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions:

Ubuntu 9.04

• cups - 1.3.9-17ubuntu3.1

Ubuntu 8.10

• cups - 1.3.9-2ubuntu9.2

Ubuntu 8.04

• cupsys - 1.3.7-1ubuntu3.5

Ubuntu 6.06

In general, a standard system upgrade is sufficient to effect the
necessary changes.
