# Charmed OpenStack Documentation

[OpenStack](https://www.openstack.org/) is a cloud operating system that controls large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources throughout a datacenter. Its base feature is the provisioning of virtual machines, aka infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS).

Charmed OpenStack is an enterprise grade OpenStack distribution designed for price-performance that leverages [Metal-as-a-Service (MAAS)](https://maas.io/) and [Juju](https://juju.is) to simplify the deployment and operations of an OpenStack cloud.

Select Ubuntu-centric material and Canonical product information can be found on the current site whereas the majority of the documentation for Charmed OpenStack is published on the upstream OpenStack documentation site.

The documentation sets described on these pages are maintained by the [OpenStack Charmers](https://launchpad.net/~openstack-charmers/+members) team. Contributions from the wider community are always welcome.
